01Background-check disclosure
matchin does not currently conduct criminal background screenings on its members. We also do not check government ID; members self-declare their date of birth. A match on matchin reflects compatibility, not a safety vetting. Always treat people you meet online with appropriate caution and good judgment.
02Watch for romance scams
- Be wary of anyone who quickly professes strong feelings and then asks for money, gift cards, or cryptocurrency.
- Never send money or share financial details with someone you have not met in person.
- Be skeptical of people who always have an excuse not to video-call or meet.
03Meeting in person
- Meet in a public place and tell a friend where you will be.
- Arrange your own transport to and from the date.
- Stay sober enough to keep your judgment; trust your instincts and leave if you feel uncomfortable.
04Report & block
You can block or report anyone from their profile or your chat. Reports are reviewed by matchin. Profiles labeled “Sample” are fictional examples, not real people, and can never contact you — anyone who messages you is a real member. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
